Easy Ways to Update Your Pantry

Are you looking for ways to update the aesthetic of your pantry? If so keep reading to follow how I plan to transform the pantry in my rental home

After years of living in apartments from New York to Texas, we are finally renting a home. We bought a washer and dryer for the first time and finally have a walk-in pantry. The main issue is since it’s a rental, I can’t necessarily have The pantry of my dreams but I can update the aesthetics. Now that I am six months postpartum and a little bit more settled with baby number two, I decided that I would try to make a budget and renter-friendly pantry update.

I decided to purchase an additional 10-piece set of oxo pop containers. My first set had been in storage for quite a while and I have more items I want in airtight containers (hello so many types of flour). I never got around to making the labels with the first set, but better late than never. I’m going to play with designs on my Cricut. I created a list that will be available to download and edit. I couldn’t find one online myself that I could just copy into a doc, so I figured it might be useful for somebody.

For the containers, I am debating if I’m going to do a print and cut similar to those white squares with black writing, or just have the words individually cut out or even printed on clear sticker paper. As I said I will play with the design and do a few test runs to see which one I like. I am going to be making sure that it’s removable vinyl since I might change some products.

I am debating peel and stick wallpaper as well as building a plywood shelf to go over the washer and dryer for more space. The peel and stick would provide a nice accent wall but with the cabinets, it’s an awkward shape. An alternative is just getting some pictures from Homegoods or framing quotes with dollar tree frames. For the plywood shelf, I was thinking of a waterfall countertop since I have wood tools, and it would create a seamless space to fold or spot treat stains and set down smaller baskets.

I will have a future post with updates on what we decide to do as well as links for the labels. I am thinking I will make files for the ideas I had so you can choose which ones to print or cut out. Look out for my next post which will be more of a tutorial.
